On Monday, July 20, 2009 Governor Bobby Jindal delivered a check to St. Landry Parish President Don Menard totaling $16,827,944; which consists of twelve combined grants. This funding will go toward hurricane recovery efforts, hazard mitigation, infrastructure improvements and enhancing the criminal justice system.

The following Boards/Commissions are now accepting applications for appointment of Board Member seats.

• Five members to be appointed to the St. Landry Waterworks District No. 2, each for a five-year term. Applicants must live in the Prairie Rhonde, Garland, Whiteville area
• One member to be appointed to the St. Landry Agricultural Arena Authority for a five-year term. Applicants must reside in St. Landry Parish
• Two members to be appointed to Fire District No. 6, each for a two-year term
• Two members to be appointed to Hospital District 1 in the Eunice area for a six-year term
• One member to be appointed to the Public Works District 5 Commission for a two-year term. Applicant must reside in Ward 4, Precinct 8
