May 1–The 14th Annual Celebration of Herbs & Gardens. Sunset. Marie St. Everything for the garden enthusiast: plants, herbal products, pottery, garden art & three informative presentations. Catered by Troy BiJeaux. Blooming Onions, cookies and lemonade with different kinds of herbal teas. Additional refreshments by the Sunset Garden Club, event sponsor. May 8–The 7th Annual Step Outside® Day. Krotz Springs. Sherbune Wildlife Management Complex on LA 975 approx. 3 miles south of LA Hwy 190 on LA 975 (east side of Atchafalaya River)(follow signs). Bring your children to this free event at the Sherburne WMA to learn about outdoor recreational opportunities available to them.Participants will learn about and participate in hunting and fishing activities, water safety, boating, bird watching and many other pursuits in the Atchafalaya. 9 AM-3:00 PM.
