VILLAGE OF CANKTON GETS GENERATOR

(Cankton, LA) – The Village of Cankton was recently equipped with a 25K generator, which will provide back up power for the Cankton Town Hall case of an emergency.  The Police Department is also housed inside the Cankton Town Hall.  “The new generator will ensure continuous power to operate during an emergency,” said Lisa Vidrine, Director of Homeland Security/Emergency Preparedness.

The total cost of the generator was $14,695.00 and was made possible through a Homeland Security Grant under the St. Landry Parish Government Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness.  “This equipment will allow for needed services to operate without interruption and improve our response when a disaster happens,” said Cankton Mayor Susan Menard.
