Parish dismisses employees
The St. Landry Parish government, which took office Monday, is starting out its new term by dismissing two employees, both in the financial office.
Parish Finance Director Mark Carriere has been dismissed as well as his assistant.
Parish President Don Menard said Francine J. Sias, who was serving as executive director of the St. Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center, has been brought in to replace Carriere. He said the assistant will not be replaced.Sias holds a master's degree in business administration.
"This is not about the change of administration. It was about business. Some of their duties were not being fulfilled," Menard said.
He called the changes simply a needed staff adjustment. "It is like any business. When upper lever staff are not making proper decisions, you need to make adjustments," Menard said.
He said no other positions are being eliminated or changed at this time.
