Parish meeting concerns raising sticker fee
April 7, 2008

The St. Landry Parish Council will hold a special meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. but a plan for the parish to take in waste from other parishes to pay for road will not be on the agenda.

Parish President Don Menard said tonight’s meeting, which will be held at 5:30 p.m. in Room 132 of the St. Landry Parish Courthouse, will instead discuss a plan to increase vehicle inspection sticker prices.

Menard said Council Chairman Kenneth Vidrine is in talks with state Sen. Donald Cravins Jr. about legislation to raise the inspection fee from $10 to $20, with the parish getting the $10 increase to use for roads.

As for the Solid Waste collection plan, Menard said a public meeting will be held on that subject at a later date. “We may schedule that at a larger facility to accommodate the anticipated crowd,” Menard said
